The expert believes that spam should be deleted in the middle of the network

Speaking at V3’s Security Summit, security expert and cryptographer Bruce Schneier highlighted the fact that security firms weren’t doing everything in their power to stop spam before it landed in the inboxes of regular users.

Spam has become a major issue for most consumers and companies because many cybercriminal operations rely on this method. However, according to the expert, there are some solutions that are much more effective than the ones currently deployed by security organizations.

“It would be really good if we could delete spam in the middle of the network in the backbone, but there really isn't enough financial incentive to do this,” Schneier explained.

He believes that security solutions providers delete spam “at the end point” because, although this is the “worst place to do it,” if they blocked it before it reached users, they couldn’t charge for their services.
