Esther Jenner: he’ll be a role model for the trans community

Bruce Jenner, the 65-year-old Olympian turned successful reality star, is transitioning from male to female, after years of questioning his identity and a very rough couple of years of negative media attention, prompted by his ever-changing appearance.

He will be sitting down for his first interview on the topic with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer and he is currently shooting a new E! docuseries about the transition. He is yet to personally confirm this, but his mother did as much in his stead, in a chat cited by Radar Online.

Esther Jenner is “prouder than ever”

Bruce is close to his mom, Esther, but somehow, she was one of the last people to find out about his transition plans. In all fairness, he didn’t inform his children and ex until just recently either, when therapy worked and he was finally ok with putting what he was going through into words.

Even so, Esther is proud. In fact, she says, she is prouder of him now than she was when he stood on the podium, with all those medals hanging from his neck, because unlike then, what he’s doing now requires something more than just hard work and determination: it takes courage to come out to the world like this.

Bruce Jenner will be a role model for the entire trans community because he will have been the first high profile figure to come out as a transwoman, Esther believes. In doing so, he will offer help and support to all trans men and women going through this, and dealing with all those complex feelings that are associated with the transition.

“I just love him like I always have… I support him whole-heartedly,” Esther says.

The entire Kardashian – Jenner family is on board

As you can see in the photo attached to this article, Bruce Jenner’s transition to female has also landed him this week’s People Magazine cover, which is the closest thing to a full confirmation we have now.

Inside the mag, it is revealed that the entire Kardashian and Jenner family is on board, having already expressed their support for Bruce, after they were informed of his decision. Everyone knew that Bruce was going through something, but it was still a shock to hear him say it out loud: he had started the process of transitioning to female.

Everyone except for Scott Disick and Kim Kardashian rallied by Bruce’s side as soon as he was done talking, the report mentions. Scott took his time with coming to terms with this, but it happened eventually.

Kim, on the other hand, wanted to speak with her mother first, to see if she was ok. Only afterwards did she tell Bruce she would be there for him if he needed her.

Speaking of Kris, buzz online has it that she’s the only one who is still “not ok” with Bruce’s transition: on the one hand, she feels as if he deceived her for all those years (23, for who’s counting) they were married. On the other, as manager of their entire business empire, she believes his coming out as transwoman will damage their “brand.”
