Now that the tabloid frenzy around Bruce Jenner’s alleged upcoming docuseries on E! that would focus on his transition from male to female has died down, news comes that the new project might not even happen at all.

A new season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians premieres this month, and executive producer Jeff Jenkins tells USA Today that, to his knowledge, other than this, Jenner has no project in the works. In other words, no revolutionary docuseries is coming this spring, or summer at the latest.

Bruce Jenner and the years-old transition rumor

Rumors that Bruce Jenner had started transitioning from male to female first appeared online a couple of years ago, when he and wife of over 2 decades, Kris Jenner, announced they had separated. At the time, no one thought much of them, assuming it was just idle gossip created and spread by the tabloids and the celebrity bloggers.

Jenner’s love of plastic surgery was probably what gave the reports longevity online. In the past several months, the rumor mill spun out of control, with more and more reputable publications confirming that, indeed, he was transitioning and might even get reassignment surgery.

Then came news that he was shooting the transition for a new E! docuseries, which was instantly dubbed revolutionary because he would be the first high-profile celebrity to do something like this and thus give voice to the many trans-people going through a similar experience.

Docuseries has been axed or canceled

Neither Jenner nor E! ever confirmed this report, which was passed as legitimate news by all publications - and not just celebrity rags. Neither did they deny it, which, in showbiz, is a half-confirmation.

Jenkins says that such a series is not in the works right now.

“You will see Bruce on season 10 and beyond that, he is in season 10. He's in all the way to the very end of it. Beyond that there is, to my knowledge, no series in production that, as we said, is its own series. That's really the current situation. As of right now, there's no Keeping Up with Bruce Jenner,” the exec explains.

That doesn’t mean that the series was never in the schedule, though; chances are it was put on hold or canceled because of Jenner’s share of responsibility in the February 4 car accident he caused on the highway in Miami.

The accident resulted in the death of a female driver, and Jenner might face manslaughter charges if he’s found guilty of not maintaining the distance from the vehicle in front and not paying attention to the road. This altered his response time and he didn’t brake, sending the car in front out into incoming traffic, where it was hit by an SUV. The driver died on the spot.

It could be that Jenner had already wrapped shooting for the series and was probably gearing up for the promo tour, as it was supposedly set to come out this spring. E! can’t back up this project now that he’s the target of an ongoing investigation, so the best odds are that the docuseries will come out much later this year. If at all.
