Bruce Jenner is now officially a single man, as his divorce from longtime wife and business partner (and reality star and reality TV mogul) Kris Jenner was finalized at the end of last year. Though he’s hinted before that he would never want to return to reality TV again, he is about to have a change of heart and get his own show.

There’s only one condition for that to happen though: Kris Jenner has to not be involved, sources familiar with the situation reveal for TMZ. Bruce is done with Kris pulling all the strings and calling all the shots, and he wants out of her reach.

Staged reality on Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Bruce’s dissatisfaction with Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which is produced and aired by E! and lists Kris as executive producer, has been increasingly obvious in past seasons, to the point where unconfirmed rumors of his imminent exit didn’t strike even loyal fans as shocking anymore.

Even before he and Kris announced that their marriage was over, Bruce was spending more time away from his large and attention-loving family, with his sons from his previous marriage, at his home in Miami.

Whenever he would appear on the show, he would seem disoriented and very upset about the attention and the fact that there were cameras around, as if he didn’t expect them to be there at the same time he was invited to one event or another.

This, in turn, sparked speculation that Kris used her exec producer weight to create storylines and “trap” Bruce in them, which obviously never sat well with him. One of the reasons he wanted out was that he wanted to feel like his life was his to control again.

Keeping Up with the Jenners

This would explain why he’s open to the idea of doing his own show, even if it’s nothing but a male version of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. TMZ says that the series would most likely “involve shooting, ironically, Kardashian-style, following Bruce and his 3 sons while they race cars, travel, and just generally bro out.”

Bruce and his sons are game for the idea, but Bruce wants one thing to be promised to him: that Kris Jenner would not executive produce. He won’t even consider the idea if she’s involved, the report goes on to say.

An amicable divorce

Bruce and Kris were married for 23 years before they realized that their marriage wasn’t working anymore and that they would be better off as friends. Because they’re part of one of the most mediated families in showbiz, despite their statement that no third party was involved and that the divorce was not nasty, speculation continues to make the rounds as to the “real” reason they broke up.

Apparently, Kris’ controlling ways had a lot to do with it, as also did the fact that Bruce is “transitioning” to female, after finally finding the courage to speak up, face Kris and affirm his true identity to her and the world.

Officially, the split is friendly, perhaps more amicable than with most celebrities, despite the fact that they don’t have a prenup but do have a lot of assets to share. In this context, it seems hard to believe Bruce would be looking to sabotage Kris by getting his own show to rival hers, does it not?
