Amid reports that Bruce Jenner, who came out as a transgender woman earlier this year, has already had full gender reassignment surgery and is in hiding during recovery, comes confirmation that he has landed the cover of Vanity Fair. This is how Bruce will introduce “Her” to the world.

The former Olympian and current reality star kept this secret for many decades before finally sitting down with Diane Sawyer for a 2-hour special and coming out as transwoman. Since then, he did not ask to be referred to as “she” and he did not disclose his new name, referring to his female identity only as “Her.”

All that will change with the VF cover, most likely.

Bruce Jenner’s “Her” is ready for her close-up

Us Weekly and various other major media outlets confirm the news, saying that the issue in question is slated for a summer debut, which means, just before Bruce’s E! transition docu-series.

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz will shoot Bruce for the cover and the editorial, which, we assume, will come accompanied by a lengthy interview. Bruce has said in previous interviews and family chats (captured on camera for the Keeping Up with the Kardashians special About Bruce) that he wants to be as vocal about his transition as possible because he wants to “help others.”

Bruce Jenner is the first high-profile celebrity not only to come out as a transperson but to invite the media along for the ride. Some see in this the Kardashians’ willingness to cash in on absolutely everything they do, spinning it into a media spectacle.

Most, however, see this as a courageous move on Bruce’s part because he chooses to go through an already difficult experience in the glare of the media, just so he can inspire others to face their fears and learn to discover and love their true selves.

VF issue is bound to be a best-seller

This will be the first time that Bruce Jenner is seen as a woman in public. He will probably be revealing his new female name as well, so the issue in question is bound to be a best-seller.

After the About Bruce special aired on E!, focusing mostly on Bruce’s meetings with his children and ex-wife Kris Jenner to discuss his transition, step-daughter Kim Kardashian has told both the media and the fans that she’d seen “Her” and that she was “beautiful.”

She also hinted that she knew the name Bruce would be using as female, but refused to disclose it: this was his announcement to make, not hers, she said.

However, one thing she did say: “Her” was very much into fashion and she looked totally glam.
