The radios are already being marketed

Founded in 1932 by Harry Roberts, the company is known as a global consumer electronics company based in England. It has been producing radios for over 70 years, so it has a solid background.

Apparently, for many years the Roberts products were the only radios permitted in UK prisons, mainly because their cases could be easily opened to check for contraband. Specific MW/LW-only models were designed for this market. The company admits its plastic-cased equipment was made in the far east, even though its high-end wooden cased equipment is still manufactured in England.

Recently, the company has unveiled its latest addition on its portfolio, in the DAB, to be more specific. The new series was dubbed Gemini 45. It comes available in two color versions: black and silver, it has both DAB and FM reception, nine stations presets and a built-in favorite station button that saves a lot of time when you search for your favorite radio show.

At the first glimpse, it seems that Roberts dropped the retro look for a modern one, which could be more appealing to the young users, more than to the conservative sophisticated ones. There is also a decent sized back lit 16 x 2 character easy to read LCD display in the upper side of the radio and an easy to handle rotary volume control, as well as a search/manual tuning. I cannot help telling you that the amber display back light creates a nice contrast with the dark blue radio casing.

As seen on the company's web site, the radios feature FM RDS station name display, a line output socket and a headphone socket, for the owners that prefer listening to their favorite music in private. In case you were wondering whether to place this on any flat surface in your home, the player sports a reasonable and portable size of 231(w) x 141(h) x 75(d)mm, so it's quite easy for you to use it. Both radios are powered by 6 x LR14 batteries that are not included in the package.

All in all, there is nothing unusual about these devices. Probably the affordable price tag around 50 pounds, could be the best news related to it.
