A number of five subdomains hosted on the website of Office of the People’s Counsel – District of Columbia (opc-dc.gov) have been defaced by a group of hackers that call themselves the “Brothers Team.”

Cyber War News informs that the list of affected subdomains includes: the Green Office (green.opc-dc.gov), Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (ees.opc-dc.gov), and Smart Meter Education (smartmeters.opc-dc.gov).

The other two affected domains are videos.opc-dc.gov and secure.opc-dc.gov, but because they were still defaced at press time, we couldn’t precisely determine their purpose.

The defacement page posted by the hackers indicates that they may be affiliated with Anonymous hacktivists, but their exact reasons for breaching the sites are not mentioned.

However, judging by the fact that they claim to be “Muslim hackers,” this may be another protest against the US or NATO.
