Hollywood actress Brooke Shields and comedian James Belushi were involved in a plane crash at the end of last week, it has just emerged. The stars were flying together to attend a private function at the Hearst Castle estate. They landed safely, but the pilot forgot to secure the brakes, which made the plane slide into a waiting car, causing some damage. No one was hurt in the collision, CNN informs, citing a People-magazine report.

“A small Cessna carrying Shields and Belushi ran into a parked SUV on Friday afternoon. After landing the plane, the pilot left the aircraft without securing the brakes, San Luis Obispo, California sheriff's officials told People. The Cessna 421B had touched down at a private airstrip at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California, where Shields, Belushi and others on the plane were attending a private function, said sheriff’s spokesman Rob Bryn.” CNN says.

The crash, or plane “fender-bender,” as some media outlets have called it, was more of a funny occurrence than a real tragedy, especially in the context in which no one was hurt and there was little to no damage done to the plane. Not the same can be said about the parked SUV, though, as one can easily imagine. The police have not yet said whether they plan on filing charges against the pilot or who will be held responsible for the damages done.

“‘The pilot got out, but he forgot to set the parking brake.’ Bryn said. The plane rolled a few feet into a parked rental SUV, breaking its side view mirror and scraping the side of the vehicle, but no injuries were reported, said Bryn.” CNN further adds. Shields’ spokesperson also confirmed the reports, saying the incident was unfortunate enough, but, luckily, no one was hurt and medical assistance was not required on the scene. A publicist for Belushi was not immediately available for comment.

Television star and occasional singer and socialite Nicole Richie was also involved in a fender-bender the other day, although, in her case, there was no plane to speak of. The car she was driving was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by two paparazzi, as we also reported yesterday. Richie asked to be seen by a doctor in the aftermath of the crash, while the driver responsible was taken into police custody for driving with a suspended license.
