In November, Brooke Burke-Charvet announced she’d been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and would undergo surgery to remove it. She had surgery one week ago and is now recuperating at home, and Brooke is happy to report she’s cancer free.

As she promised she would, Brooke is keeping her fans up to speed with her progress on her blog ModernMom.

“I just got the results back from all of my tests and great news - the thyroid cancer has been removed from my body and all my lymph nodes are clear. So I'm hoping that this is the end of the story. Woohoo!!! And thank GOD!” she writes in the latest post.

It also brings a photo of Brooke at home, showing the area of her neck where surgery was performed.

The star says she used this past week to catch up with one of her favorite television shows and, at the time, really think the experience through.

She’s still “sore,” Brooke writes, but every day is getting better and she’s feeling more appreciative than the day before.

“My surgery went really well and recovery is much better than I expected it would be. I've been home for the past week, watching a lot of TV, which I never do. Having movie marathons and I've almost made it through the entire season of Showtime's hit show Homeland. I can't remember the last time I lost myself in someone else's story,” Brooke writes.

“It's so out of the ordinary for me – to not be working or rushing from place to place driving the kids around. But I have to admit I could kinda get used to this. I'm starting to feel like a housewife, minus the household chores... not a bad gig,” she jokes.

“In a weird way, it's kind of the perfect ending to a very busy year. I've taken the rest of the year off to recover and catch up with my family and now we're just celebrating life,” Brooke further says.

Next year, she will be back to her busy schedule.
