iOS developer Revolution has announced the release of Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse, the latest mystery in the adventure-puzzle series.

“Playing as intrepid American George Stobbart and sassy French journalist Nico Collard, you find yourself on the trail of a stolen painting – and a murderous conspiracy. A conspiracy whose roots lie in mysteries older than the written word...,” reads the plot.

The latest in the multi-million selling Broken Sword series, Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent's Curse promises to deliver a gripping storyline told by a top-quality voice cast, engaging puzzles, a “slide and tap” interface, a context-sensitive help system, and full Game Center integration.

Before you do anything, note that this game will leave you a bit unsatisfied, because the concluding part, Episode 2, is not yet available. Revolution promises to roll it out as an in-app purchase shortly.

With that out of the way, the game is localized with English, German, and French speech, while subtitles are available in a few extra languages, including with option for subtitles in Spanish, Italian and Russian.

The hardware requirements are pretty strict too. According to the developer, iPhone 4 users will be able to download and play the game, but their experience will be lackluster.

“We do NOT recommend this game for the iPhone 4 – although it will play, there will be performance issues with movie play-back and general loading times.”

It is thus advised that you download Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent's Curse on a device that the game has been optimized for, such as iPhone 4S and newer, iPad 2 and newer, or the very latest iPod touch, all with iOS 7 installed.

It also helps to know that the game is a whopping 1.84 GB in size, which means you’ll need around twice that amount in free disk space for the initial installation.
