For some, the video embedded above may seem funny, because similar scenes are seen only in cartoons or movies, but in reality it's really serious. The footage shows the result of a car accident that happened on East Village, San Diego, on Saturday evening.

According to local police, a white Chevy Suburban crashed into a Toyota Corolla on 17th street sending the car flying into a fire hydrant. As a result, water burst out and flooded the roadway and six homes nearby.

The pressure from the erupting water line kept the rear of the Toyota Corolla lifted off the ground until emergency crews managed to shut off the water.

People often underestimate water and its power, but it seems that water pressure is strong enough to blast almost everything away.

Immediately after the accident, all the passengers that were inside the car fled away, which is why the local police suspects that the Corolla was probably stolen.

NBC San Diego informs that the Red Cross helped the tenants of the affected houses to find a place to stay for the night until the damage to their homes is repaired.

There is no telling how much covering the damages could cost.
