Double Fine's classical point-and-click adventure Broken Age has now released Act 1 on Steam, along with a fancy launch trailer.

Tim Schafer's project started more than 2 years ago on Kickstarter, being one of the first big projects that cement the crowdfunding platform's reputation as an indie game paradise and a viable alternative for securing funding for niche projects.

Broken Age is a coming of age story that follows two parallel storylines, of a boy who grows all by himself in space, with a computer providing for his every need except his desire to explore the universe, and of a young girl who has been selected by her village to be sacrificed to a giant monster.

The game features a fully original orchestral soundtrack and an all-star vocal cast, including Eijah Wood and Wil Wheaton.

The game is now available for more than its backers to enjoy, with Act 2 to follow later in the year. Players who buy Broken Age Act 1 will receive Act 2 free of charge, when it's ready for launch.

Broken Age Act 1 is now available on Steam, going for $25 / €23, with only Act 1 currently available.
