"Brokeback Mountain"'s Oscar Race

The gay cowboy story leads the nominations list for the 78th annual Academy Awards

"Brokeback Mountain" got eight nominations for the 78th annual Academy Awards. Among these nods there are included nominations for Best Director- Ang Lee and acting accolades for Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams.

Along with "Brokeback Mountain" there are also set for a rough fight movies "Capote", "Crash", "Munich" and "Good night, and Good Luck" for Best Motion Picture category.

For Best Actor in a Leading Role the competition is set between the Australian Heath Ledger in the highly appreciated "Brokeback Mountain", Philip Seymour Hoffman for his role in "Capote", Terrence Howard in "Hustle & Flow", Joaquin Phoenix for "Walk the Line" work and David Strathairn in "Good Night, And Good Luck".

As for the Oscar for Best Actress In A Leading Role, the nominations go to Golden Globe-winners Felicity Huffman in "Transamerica" and Reese Witherspoon in "Walk the Line", and also to beautiful Charlize Theron for "North Country", Dame Judi Dench in "Mrs. Henderson Presents" and Keira Knightley" for the adaptation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice".

The Oscars' winners will be announced on March 5th, 2006 at the crown jewel of the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex, Kodak Theatre.

Smart, engaging, irreverent and funny, Jon Stewart is set to host the 78th Academy Awards for the first time.
