ABC teases surprise romance between Clint and JJ

If you’re a fan of The Bachelor or spinoff The Bachelorette, you will be incredibly surprised to find out that the latest teaser coming from ABC for the latter show hinted at the most unexpected twist: two of the contestants vying for the lady’s affection and hand in marriage have fallen in love.

With each other.

You can see the teaser in question below. While there’s no mistaking the meaning of it, TMZ reports that the “big reveal” is nothing short of very shrewd marketing to sell a lie.

Clint and JJ bond, fall in love

“I never imagined I’d fall in love with a man,” Clint Arlis says in the promo. He also explains how he and JJ Lane have grown close during the current season of The Bachelorette and how they really bonded “in the shower.”

This season’s Bachelorette is Kaitlyn Bristowe, but they no longer seem interested in her, as they profess their love for each other instead. This would mean they’d be out of the race for her hand in marriage.

“This Brokeback Bachelor will blow your mind,” ABC promises in the same video. #BrokebackBachelor is trending on social media, with many viewers surprised that the network had “the guts” to introduce an openly gay couple on a heterosexual dating show, or that they didn’t do their research properly and got 2 gays competing for a girl.

Reality television is not “real”

TMZ reports that there is no gay romance on the upcoming episode of The Bachelorette, because Clint and JJ are “straight as arrows.” Nothing ever happened between them on set and nothing ever will, but they find the idea of a “Brokeback Bachelorette,” a reference to the Oscar-winning “Brokeback Mountain” film, absolutely hilarious.

So they agreed to go with ABC’s plans to create this misleading promo.

“Clint and JJ did have a bromance while trying to woo Kaitlyn Bristowe, but ‘nothing gay ever happened,’ not even in the shower, as Clint mentions in the promo,” the celebrity publication says. “Both guys are in on the whole ‘Brokeback’ thing and ‘just think it's funny.’ They even gave producers soundbites to run with.”

As you can see in the tweets and the Instagram below, they’re both running with the gag on social media as well. Clint even compared himself to Heath Ledger, who played one of the two gay cowboys in the “Brokeback” film, while JJ hints that he’s missing Clint where he’s chilling right now.
