Broke Whitney Houston Sells Stuff to Pay Bills

The singer is selling everything from pianos to underwear

Whitney Houston may be facing some serious financial troubles if she has decided to sell such personal items as a see-through piano, estimated at around $400,000, personal underwear and Bobby Brown's awards. As a matter of fact, this is exactly what certain media outlets are saying: that she is selling them because she hasn't paid storage fees for them from 2005.

The auction will be held by Speed Of Sound, the storage facility to which the diva owes almost $150,000 in unpaid taxes. But her publicist, however, strongly claims that this is not the reason behind the large scale garage sale, adding that she is only doing it because they are things outdated and of which she no longer has any use. 'The auction consists of old equipment from past tours that she doesn't need anymore. It's not unusual for artists to sell off staging and equipment not in use anymore', he explained as soon as word of it got out.

The collection on display will include the $400,000 piano, instruments from Whitney's tours, costumes, a leather whip, underwear, one of her favorite chairs (also referred to as 'the throne'), Brown's music awards, Dolce & Gabbana bustier bras, props and personal clothing items. But the auction holder says that they are not for everyone's eyes, even if the sale will be open to the public.

'It's a warehouse full of stuff from her shows. There's some pretty personal stuff in there. Even her underwear is in there. I was marveling at the waist of some of these clothes. They were pretty small. The auction is open to the public, but only for qualified buyers. We're probably going to combine a lot of the individual items, like the costumes. It's not for a teenage fan hoping to buy one of her trinkets', a spokesperson for Speed Of Sound explained.

This is not the first time that Houston is faced with financial issues: a while ago, she faced foreclosure on her $6 million New Jersey mansion, after she failed to pay taxes of up to $1 million. She came out of that one last week, when she paid the Uncle Sam his due.
