Broforce, the indie side-scrolling brawler from Free Lives and Devolver Digital, has just received a brand new update that's filled with fresh characters, all-new levels, and even support for the Steam Workshop, allowing users to create and submit their own stages for others to enjoy.

Broforce has impressed ever since its first debut via the Steam Early Access program at the beginning of the year, delivering a tongue-in-cheek brawler with a pretty big emphasis on platforming and killing hordes of enemies.

The fact that it included outrageous takes on many famous action movie heroes, from Sylvester Stallone to Arnold Schwarzenegger, also aided its popularity, not to mention the pretty steady support offered by Free Lives for those who bought the game and helped its development.

A fresh patch brings new bros and maps

Now, a fresh update has just been released by the South African studio, bringing forth, as usual, two new characters. The first is called Bro Max and is modeled after Mad Max, while the second is The Brode, modeled after The Bride from Kill Bill.

"Bro Max, boomerang-wielding post-apocalyptic warrior from beyond the Thunderbrome, and The Brode, a yellow clad assassin with a taste for revenge, are now devastating enemies of freedom in the latest update to Broforce," the studio explains.

Besides the two new characters that are now ready to unleash havoc in Broforce, the patch also brings a suite of brand new missions that are set in the new Eastern European environment. They contain even more tough challenges, so bringing a friend via co-op is quite recommended.

"Bros will also have a slew of new missions to tackle solo or online with friends as Broforce introduces new Eastern European campaign missions brimming with vicious terrorists, deadly traps, and anti-American sentiment," the studio adds.

Steam Workshop support is also live

Through the latest patch, Broforce also gets the long-awaited support for the Steam Workshop initiative, meaning owners of the game can start forging their own levels and share them with others for free.

"Broforce is giving power back to the people with Steam Workshop support and the ability to design custom levels and share them directly on Steam. Through a fair and balanced voting process, the finest of these user-generated levels will rise to the top on Steam Workshop and govern lesser user-generated content as they see fit."

In order to show off all the new features and things included in the latest Broforce update, a special video and a series of screenshots have been revealed, so check them out below.
