Earlier this year, more specifically at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled a new portable computer system, designed to take advantage of the performance capabilities of a VIA Nano processor. The low-cost laptop, dubbed NC20, has just been made available for pre-order at the UK-based retailer BT Shop, for a price tag of £390.98, or approximately $565, VAT included.

According to details on the aforementioned website, the Nano-powered Samsung NC20 will become available in February, but only the white model, as the black one isn't expected until early March. Both models are set at approximately $565, a price that can rival that of many netbooks currently available on the market. However, despite the overall specifications on this thing, the NC20 could be more of a laptop than a netbook. That is if you consider netbooks as sub-10-inch portable computer systems.

As for specifications, the NC20 has been featured with an 12.1-inch WXGA display, larger than the 10-inch one on most netbooks. The system is powered by a 1.3GHz VIA Nano U225 processor, combined with 1GB of RAM memory and a storage capacity of 160GB. Users will also be able to benefit from an integrated Bluetooth, 3-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery option. In addition, according to the details provided by the aforementioned UK-based retailer, the laptop will also provide its users with HSDPA, an option that will become available next month, taking the overall price tag of the laptop to £416.63 ($602) with VAT.

Given the specifications, and the overall price tag, this could just be the best product for those users who wanna go for something that isn't a netbook but doesn't exactly fit in a fully-fledged laptop category either.
