The film Brittany Murphy completed shortly before her death in 2009, aged 32, is finally seeing the light of day, thanks to a limited theatrical release in the US. Below is the first official trailer for it.

Called “Something Wicked,” the film tells the story of a couple about to be married and start a family, whose chances of happiness are ruined by tragedy. Murphy plays the sister and, according to reports online, she delivers one of the most touching and “intense” performances of her entire career.

You get a hint of it towards the end of the trailer, available in the video below, when she’s crying and, with mascara running down her face, she’s talking about the presence of “evil in this house.”

“There's an important scene where her character is unraveling and she spent a long time getting ready and focused and went for it. Personally, I think it's one of the best scenes of her career,” screenwriter Joe Colleran said a couple of years back, when the film was still not even close to getting a release date.

Speaking of which, it has been set for April 4 for theaters in Eugene, Oregon and for April 11 for other theaters across the US. No word yet if the film will ever be released in cinemas worldwide as well but, judging by the trailer (even though you should never judge a book by its cover), it’s probably best if you look for it directly on DVD.
