He has every reason to be, judging by the footage released by the network so far

On September 6, this Saturday, Lifetime is airing an unauthorized Brittany Murphy biopic called simply “The Brittany Murphy Story.” Angelo Bertolotti, the late star’s estranged father, says he’s “disgusted and outraged” at the idea and at how the people at Lifetime are putting it into execution.

Because, make no mistake, this biopic seems bad even by Lifetime standards. The official trailer is embedded below, and it looks half-decent because it doesn’t include any dialog. The other two videos under it are enough to make you understand what kind of production we’re talking about.

So no wonder Bertolotti is angry: he might not have been a part of his daughter’s life anymore because he walked out on her and her mother, but he’s furious that she’s getting such a “trashy” film, which “defiles her memory,” Radar Online reports.

He’s also furious that he wasn’t contacted for authorization on the biopic, just like Brittany’s mother wasn’t either. Still, Lifetime is pushing the project as if it were the “real” story, which it can’t be when it doesn’t have any kind of backing up from family members.

Another thing Bertolotti takes offense with is the casting. “Lifetime’s casting was atrocious,” he says. “Amanda Fuller, the girl playing Brittany, looks absolutely nothing like her. Everyone looks ridiculous in their bad wigs and the dialogue is nauseating.”

Seriously, what’s up with the wigs? The one of the Alicia Silverstone character looks as if some giant animal attacked her head and then remained stuck on it. Surely Lifetime could afford to up its wig game just a bit, what with all the attention they’re getting for these biopics it keeps churning out.
