Actress Brittany Murphy, who played a newlywed opposite Ashton Kutcher in the comedy "Just Married", became engaged to her boyfriend over Christmas, People magazine reported yesterday.
Murphy, who also starred alongside Dakota Fanning in "Uptown Girls," got engaged to Joe Macaluso over the Christmas holidays, the magazine reported on its Web site. She has been spotted wearing a Tiffany Diamond ring on her finger, so it's obvious the engagement is a fact.
According to People, the Georgia-born Murphy met Macaluso, a production assistant, on the set of her 2004 film "Little Black Book," the same year she broke the engagement with her ex-boyfriend Jeff Kwatinetz.
In "Little Black Book", the 28-year-old actress played Stacy Holt, an associate producer for a daytime talk show, who is confounded by her boyfriend Derek's unwillingness to talk about his previous relationships. Egged on by her co-worker Barb, Stacy sneaks a look at his personal digital organizer, scores the names and numbers of his exes, and sets up interviews with them - all this in an effort to get closer to her man. Her plan starts to unravel, however, when she becomes friends with one of the women. It seems that this romantic comedy was destiny that brought Brittany and Joe together.
Although the engagement isn't that fresh anymore, Eminem's '8 Mile' girlfriend isn't quite in a hurry to comment upon the event. Maybe that is why her representatives could not immediately be reached for any public declarations.
