14 DAY TRIAL // Shortly after actress Brittany Murphy passed away after going into cardiac arrest in her Los Angeles home, speculation started to make the rounds that perhaps her husband, Simon Monjack, might have had a hand in her alleged drug addiction with the purpose of getting his hands on her money. Monjack repeatedly denied such outrageous claims, saying he never wanted Brittany’s money – and he’s not getting it either, TMZ has learned.
As per the celebrity gossip website / paparazzi agency, Murphy has left all her assets to her mother, intentionally excluding her husband from her will. Apparently, long before she even met Monjack and married him, she had a handwritten will made. After tying the knot with the British writer and director, the late star also had a draft for another will made, and it intentionally left her husband out, at his own request nonetheless.
“Brittany Murphy left her entire estate to her mother, Sharon, TMZ has learned. Sources tell us, years before Brittany was married she wrote a holographic (handwritten) will, leaving everything to her mom. The will was stored in her manager’s safe,” TMZ writes. Even more, the same outlet informs, Simon knew of the will and had nothing against it, which goes to confirm what he’s been saying all along, namely that he had not married Murphy for her money and a shot at fame he couldn’t get on his own, as some tabs speculated after her death.
“Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, told TMZ after they got married Brittany had a formal will drafted, along with a trust. Simon tells us all of her assets under the new will and trust go to Sharon. Simon tells us, at his request, the will specifically says, ‘I am married to Simon Monjack who I have intentionally left out of this will’,” the e-zine goes on to say.
As we also informed you a few days ago, toxicology results revealed that there was no trace of illegal substances or alcohol abuse, therefore Murphy’s death was ruled as “accidental,” albeit preventable. The actress was suffering from pneumonia and tried to self-medicate, but the combination of prescription and over-the-counter medicine eventually proved fatal, it was revealed at the time. Brittany Murphy was just 32 years old.
