Microsoft continues to urge users to dump Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6, but there are some organizations around the world that do not seem to get the message.

The Inquirer has come across a pretty interesting case in the United Kingdom, where residents who wish to claim benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) need to run Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.

"This service doesn't work with some modern browsers and operating systems. We are considering how best to provide this service in future. You may want to claim in another way,” a notification posted by the DWP reads.

The service notes that users might experience issues if they are running Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9 or 10, Windows Vista or a smartphone. In case you’re wondering, you must run Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, with IE 5 or 6, Netscape 7.2 or Mozilla 1.7.7. And that’s not all.

"This service is not available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 1.00am to 1.30am because of essential maintenance work. We apologise for any inconvenience," the DWP also adds.
