Britney Update: Mental Breakdown, Stolen Goods and Shady Friends

It's just one sad situation...

For some reason, this weekend has been kind of quiet and uneventful... Could it be because the master of all weekend meltdowns, the chaotic popwreck still going by the name of Brit Brit is still in the hospital? Well, it may very well be so... Britney Spears, ladies and gentlemen, is still held in the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center, and her stay has been extended for 14 days. Trouble is, Brit herself doesn't seem to take to her hospital environment much, and is reportedly in a padded room. Now, I know many of us (me included) have said over and over again that she belongs in a psychiatric facility, and yes, I do believe she is finally getting all the help she needs - but I'm not reporting any of these things with a smile on my face. I believe it's regrettable it has come to this, and it's tragic that Britney wasn't strong enough to surround herself with better people that might have prevented her from landing in such an extreme situation.

And speaking of the people around Britney, it seems that the guy she's been hanging out with for quite some time now, the shady Sam Lufti, is much more of a threat than we might have suspected. The alleged film producer has two restraining orders filed against him in addition tot the one filed by Britney's parents a couple of days ago, and is said to be a vicious and violent bully who enjoyed bragging to his friends about the amount of power he had over Britney. Although for now he's out of Britney's life, I have a feeling he has been making too much money since he became involved with her to give up the fight so easily. So I suppose we'll be seeing more of him in the coming weeks.

Another significant piece of news is that over the weekend, Britney's Beverly Hills mansion was broken into. Her parents apparently discovered the theft and filed a police report - we don't yet know what has been stolen, but apparently some "valuable possessions" went missing. I know I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions on this one, but how strange is it that as soon as Lufti is banned from Britney's life, valuable things go missing from her house - to which, as we all know, he used to have unlimited access? But really, if any sex tape of Britney and Sam hits the market these days, I will officially never write an article on the popwreck ever again, and retire somewhere on a ranch in Brazil until my stomach heals from all the vomiting.
