Britney Spears has made quite a comeback in recent years: just when nobody thought she could come back and attain the same level of fame and popularity as before, she's proved them wrong by doing just that. Her career is just one of the topics she touches in a new interview with Stylist.

Britney rarely does interviews these days or, if she does, they're conducted via email or, at best, live with pre-approved questions.

This is what makes the latest so important: it's genuine. In it, the singer muses on turning 30, having a career in showbiz, and the downsides of fame.

Unlike other pop stars who are eager to pick feuds with other singers, Britney is now mature enough to know there's enough room for everybody.

If anything, she can learn something from her younger competitors, she tells the British publication.

“Well, it’s really cool because there are so many new, up-and-coming artists to look at and be inspired by. For me, I think it’s great to have a little competition because I feel it inspires us [Team Britney] and makes us want to do better,” she says.

“There are so many soulful singers, even the ones coming from London, like Adele and Jessie J, who are just amazing. It feels like a really cool time to be making music now,” Britney explains.

“I think as the years have gone by, and as I’ve evolved as an artist, I’ve put even more into my career, and after that amount of time you start to know exactly what you want. You feel a little bit more in your skin, in terms of who you are. And that just feels really nice,” the pop star explains.

With experience also came the knowledge that success is a very relative term. For Britney, it means being happy with what she has and this includes her beautiful family: her two boys and her adoring boyfriend Jason Trawick.

“For me, success is a state of mind. I feel like success isn’t about conquering something, it’s being happy with who you are,” she says.
