Britney Spears’ Tour Kicks Off, Weight and Outfits Criticized

Britney Spears is touring again: last night in Sacramento, the pop star kicked off the US Femme Fatale Tour, which will extend to Europe later this year. The first gig earned Britney rave reviews, but her choice of stage outfits and her weight didn’t.

While the show is Britney’s most daring, spectacular and flashiest to date, according to reviews, she doesn’t look top shape.

For an entertainer who has spent the past few months rehearsing and “eating right and healthy,” as she put it herself in a previous interview, Britney is looking rather out of shape, word in the blogosphere has it.

Then again, it could be that her stage outfits could have used more adjustment – and perhaps a bit more fabric too to cover the bumpy bits, celebrity pundits write.

The Daily Mail, for one, rips into the Princess of Pop for her ill-fitting outfits, saying she “packs a paunch” (quite a pun there) and that she looks a far cry from what fans may be paying to see.

“Most singers lose weight before they go on tour owing to all the rehearsals and training they have to put themselves through,” the tab writes.

“However Britney Spears appears to have gained weight, yet again, in the run up to her Femme Fatale Tour in the US with chunky thighs and a bloated belly,” the Mail adds.

“The 29-year-old singer hit the stage at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California in the kind of shape you might expect to see someone who is taking a career break – not embarking on a hectic, 33-date tour,” the tab notes.

Gather (and other celebrity blogs) agree: Britney has looked better than this and she definitely could have used better costumes for the Femme Fatale Tour.

Otherwise, her first show has earned her rave reviews, as also noted above. Fans and critics alike love it, with many praising Britney for singing live for a change – skeptics, of course, doubt that she wasn’t lip-synching.
