Britney Spears to Host Kids' Choice Awards

- The singer will follow up on her acclaimed TV sitcom appearance

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

Britney Spears and her pregnant teenage sister Jamie Lynn seem to have embarked on a race of "who makes the biggest band in the headlines" - and while for the moment, it could go either way, we could also be inclined to say big sister may be in the process of winning. Britney's apparent recovery and subsequent return to television, all under the watchful and controlling eye of her father, have brought the popwreck
a lot of good press over the past few days, and the public is demanding more of the "new and improved" Britney. To this, Jamie Lynn has responded with a rumored engagement to the father of her baby. In a move most likely aimed at capitalizing on the media goodwill towards Brit Brit, her PR team has reportedly secured the singer another deal: hosting the Kids' Choice Awards on March 29th.

While this piece of news hasn't yet been confirmed by someone from Britney's camp, OK! magazine quotes an insider who reports that "it's supposed to be top secret, but everyone is already buzzing about it. [...] Her sister, Jamie Lynn, made such a splash at the event last year, Brit knows that she'll get as much, if not more, attention if she shows up this year". However, unlike her sister – who was still enjoying her squeaky-clean reputation this time last year – Britney's presence at a kid's choice award has already caused a lot of raised eyebrows, as people are wondering whether Brit's own troubled personal life can send a positive message to kids everywhere.

In any case, it's excellent to see that Britney's name has effectively stopped being linked to scandal, aimless drives around Los Angeles and mental breakdowns. Even though she seems unhappy with the level of control her dad holds over her life, Britney seems to be keeping her name out of the mud – which is saying a lot. Also, she is said to have become so "boring" (the word is used with its best connotation ever) that the paparazzi agencies are setting less and less photogs on her trail. If once, there was an army of 30 paparazzi tracing Britney's every move, she's barely got 5 – 6 snappers assigned exclusively to her. We can only hope Britney makes a good job of her Kids' Choice Awards appearance and keeps up the good work.
