The Britney Spears empire also relies heavily on merchandise. As fans must know, she’s got several fragrances out and they’re all very successful. The star is now being sued to the tune of $10 million over her partnership with Elizabeth Arden.
In court papers filed this week, a company claims to have been pushed aside from the Arden deal by Britney and her father, though it was the one to have brokered it.
Said company claims the two are in violation of the initial contract – and it wants at least $10 million in damages,
PopEater reports.
“Britney Spears is being sued by former business partners for breach of contract, fraud and deceit,” the e-zine says of the lawsuit filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
“Spears and her father, Jamie, are accused of cutting Brand Sense Partner, LLC. out of commission it’s owed on a perfume deal it brokered for the pop star with Elizabeth Arden,” PopEater reports.
“Brand Sense and Spears renegotiated their original 2003 deal last year but the brand marketing company is now claiming the new agreement violates the original,” the e-zine adds.
Not only did Britney and her father renegotiate the initial deal with the purpose of cheating Brand Sense Partner out of what was rightfully its, but they even tried to have the company pushed aside altogether.
“Britney secretly made a separate deal with Elizabeth Arden in a sneaky underhanded effort to circumvent and evade its obligations to Brand Sense,” the lawsuit states.
“Effectively, Britney improperly and illegally cut Brand Sense out of the Elizabeth Arden deal,” Brand Sense claims.
As of now, Britney’s camp hasn’t responded in any way to the allegations made in the lawsuit.
In other Britney news, word online has it that the reason why Enrique Iglesias chose to drop out of her upcoming summer tour is because his ego couldn’t handle being billed as her “opening act.”
Apparently, every little detail had been taken care of before Spears made the announcement on GMA – but then Enrique’s ego got the best of him and he canceled on her just like that, as we
also reported the other day.
