Annette Funicello, the famous original Mickey Mouse Club member, died yesterday at the age of 70. TMZ paparazzi thought it would make sense to ask Britney Spears, “the most famous modern member,” how she felt about it.

Britney’s weird answer is in the video below but, assuming you’re already dying of anticipation, I will make this short and tell you she said, “I think that’s great.”

Clearly, Britney misheard the question or, even more likely, wasn’t listening to the things the paparazzo was yelling at her, which totally makes sense considering she’s hounded by them 24/7.

On her Twitter, she explains her eyebrow-raising answer and expresses due regret.

“Misheard a question I was asked earlier by press while I was out and about. I am DEVASTATED to hear about the passing of Annette Funicello. She was a role model for me during my days as a Mousketeer. #Heartbroken,” Britney says.
