14 DAY TRIAL // If, when Rihanna and Britney Spears teamed up for the “S&M” remix last month, fans thought this couldn’t possibly get any better, they were wrong: the two pop stars made their dreams come true with a live performance at the Billboard Music Awards 2011.
Word online was saying on Friday that there was some chance that Britney might perform at the gala, but no one was able to confirm whether that was true and, if so, what song she’d sing.
Imagine the audience’s surprise when she popped out of the stage during Rihanna’s take on her controversial single “S&M,” all clad in black leather and with a pair of bunny ears on, ready to show the world why the song was called precisely that.
As the video below will confirm and as PopEater also underlines, the performance began with Rihanna in a white leather leotard sashaying on the stage, and occasionally wriggling on the floor as dancers’ arms were touching her and beating the air around her to the beat of the music.
Halfway through the song, Britney came in – and it was clear from the audience’s reaction that no one actually expected her to be there, let alone perform with Rihanna.
“Britney Spears rose up from the stage in a matching black patent leather leotard half-way through the performance, wearing a mask that made her look like a naughty Playboy Bunny searching for trouble,” PopEater writes.
The two even put their mics down for a few seconds towards the end of the video for a bit of suggestive dancing, to the delight of the men in the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“So how do you end a performance where two of the hottest pop stars are dancing around suggestively on stage to the sound of whips and chains? With a pillow fight, of course,” PopEater further says.
To top the pillow fight, the two even shared a kiss before leaving the stage – it was not a Britney Spears – Madonna kiss, but a kiss nonetheless.
