Britney Spears has had a fabulous year, that much is for sure: despite reports stating the contrary, the singer has launched and carried through an international tour, got her personal life back on track and is even reported to be working on a new album already. However, reports about both her personal life and her much mediated comeback had not once ceased to make headlines, which has prompted her to post a list of the 75 most ridiculous stories this year.

Among them, fans find the rumor that her own father was drugging her to keep her under control and not allow her to ask for the conservatorship over her own person to end, stories about her romantic liaisons to anyone from her manager to dancers, a story that a movie was being made after her and the much-mediated Australia “scandal,” where fans were reportedly upset with her for lip-synching. Stories about breakdowns, lewd behavior and puerile demands while on the road are also included in the top 75.

“There were more then 13,000 stories written about Britney in 2009. We ranked the ones we believe were the most ridiculous. Either because they were factually inaccurate, because they reported the patently absurd, or because we believe they are simply offensive to the sensibilities. Without further ado, we present the TOP 75 Bull[expletive] Britney Spears stories reported in the media this year,” the introduction to the top reads on the singer’s official website.

A simple look through the entries that have made the cut into the top 75 reveals that most of these stories originated from tabloids, which cited unnamed “reliable” sources to back them up, and that were later on picked up by the international media. Others stemmed from unverified tidbits reported by gossip blogger Perez Hilton and other celebrity blogs of the kind. Names like OK! Magazine, National Enquirer and Daily Mail are the most common in the list.
