Britney Spears and TV producer Charlie Ebersol have only been dating for about 8 months, but she’s positive he’s “The One” for her and she’s eager to make it official. Rumor has it that the pop princess is planning a secret Las Vegas wedding.

Britney and Charlie met through common friends and hit it off instantly. In recent weeks, they’ve also been walking plenty of red carpets together, which, in showbiz-speak means they’re a solid enough couple to come out publicly in support of each other.

“Something simple but memorable”

Britney Spears’ Las Vegas residency has been extended through 2017, because she’s proven to be a huge draw for audiences. Since she will be spending so much time in Sin City, she and Charlie have been thinking of getting hitched there, Life & Style magazine has learned.

They have been together for 8 months, but they’re getting along so wonderfully and Charlie is so amazing to her 2 boys with ex Kevin Federline that they see no reason not to take the relationship to the next stage.

“They talk about getting married all the time. Britney has never been happier than she is now with Charlie!” an insider reveals. “[Britney] wants something simple but memorable, nothing too over-the-top.”

So that means that only close friends of the two and family members, including Britney’s boys, will be present.

If this turns out to be true, this will be Britney’s third marriage - and her second in Vegas. In 2004, she married sweetheart Jason Alexander in Sin City, but the union was annulled after only 55 hours after pressure from her family.

Britney is still not in charge of calling the shots

Even assuming that the report that Britney is planning her wedding to Charlie is accurate, there’s still one more element to factor in, namely that she’s still in no position to be calling the shots, even when it concerns her private life.

After the 2007 meltdown that saw her lose custody of her sons, shave her head and attack paparazzi with umbrellas (among other things), she was placed under conservatorship, with her father named as conservator.

This happened in 2008 and continues to this day. This means that Britney can make no decision on her own, whether it concerns her business empire, her music career or her personal life, without having her dad sign off on it.

In other words, if she wants to marry Charlie, her father has to agree to it first. And considering it took him quite some time to approve of ex-fiancé Jason Trawick, chances are he won’t do so of Charlie after just 8 months.
