Britney Spears' performance at the MTV Video Music Awards from Las Vegas is one of the hottest subjects in today's news. Obviously, the Internet consumers are also attracted by these

articles so the websites' traffic was massively increased. As we expected, YouTube is one of the services which received an impressive boost in traffic due to the Britney Spears clip just like in Beyonce's case when a huge number of consumers turned to YouTube to see the exposed chest of the famous singer. The YouTube uploaders quickly uploaded the clips on the official page of the service so the viewers had a reason for their visit.

Let's do a simple test: go over to Google and type 'Britney Spears MTV Video Music Awards 2007'. If you're using the main flavor of the search technology, you should be able to see no less than 20,200,000 results for this query. Quite relevant, don't you think? But that's not all. Try searching for the same expression on YouTube and see how many clips are available.

Britney Spears and the other celebrities have always been one of the main attraction for the Internet users but those special moments like the MTV Video Music Awards manage to boost the traffic for almost every website which talks about them. As I said, YouTube is one of the pages which record the most impressive increase because most of the consumers are visiting YouTube to see the recordings.

YouTube was acquired in October 2006 and since then, it has grown up a lot becoming one of the most powerful technologies on the web. Alexa places YouTube on the fourth position among the most popular websites in the world so it's quite obvious that it's quite difficult to dethrone the Google video service. However, numerous rivals plan to compete with the Mountain View company and to release YouTube-like services but no product manages to represent a real threat for the super giant Google.
