Britney Spears is in negotiations with Planet Hollywood in view of extending her current 2-year residency at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for another year, through to 2016. If the deal goes through, she would be paid another $12 million (€8.7 million).

She’s already cashed in $30 million (€21.7 million) for the 2 years she initially agreed on. Should she accept to extend her stay, she would make a killing while also having a bit more fun, as Caesars Palace President Gary Selesner is quoted by the New York Daily News as saying.

News that Britney would headline her own show in Las Vegas, for 2 years no less, was welcomed with mixed reactions online: on the one hand, fans were happy that they could see her whenever they wanted, granted they saved money for the ticket and the trip to Sin City.

On the other hand, critics predicted a huge fail, since Spears notoriously lip-synchs, and they could not imagine a 90-minute Vegas show of just that, no matter how elaborate or not were the stage outfits.

In the end, critics were wrong: Selesner says Britney has been performing to packed audiences since she started her 2-year residency and that there is no sign that interest in her shows is decreasing. She’s also having a good time, both on and off stage, so he can’t imagine why she wouldn’t want to extend her stay.
