Britney Spears may be a fixture in tabloids and on celebrity blogs but that’s because she’s always hounded by the paparazzi: she rarely makes a red carpet appearance these days. The other night was an exception.

Britney and her longtime beau Jason Trawick rocked the red carpet at a charity event that the pop star also hosted.

Called An Evening of Southern Style and held for The St. Bernard Project, which aides the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the function also offered the pop star the occasion to show Southern hospitality, by serving guests her own homemade tea.

Speaking strictly from a fashion perspective, the event also marked a first when Britney made a public appearance looking this amazing, Fox411 notes.

Fans used to seeing her out grabbing Starbucks coffee in shorts, flip-flops or Uggs and, most often than not, very bad hair, will probably notice the improvement in a flash.

“Pop princess Britney Spears worked the red carpet last night at a charity event, where she wowed in a curve-hugging green dress and... wait for it... gorgeous hair!” the e-zine enthuses.

“In a rare red carpet appearance, the singer and her boyfriend Jason Trawick posed for cameras at The Evening of Southern Style for the The St. Bernard Project charity, for which the singer is an ambassador,” adds Fox411.

Indeed, Spears looked stunning in a lime green body-hugging dress, with understated jewelry, beige pumps and the loveliest curly hairdo.

Jason also looked good and the two even posed as a couple on the red carpet, which, again, is not something that her fans get to see that often.

When she’s not giving her free time to charity, Britney is working on her upcoming tour in support of her latest album, “Femme Fatale.”

In the first promo for the tour, Spears promised fans it would be fun, saying she wanted to go for “spectacular” choreography, costumes and stage settings, as we also informed you at the time.
