Britney Spears Involved in Car Accident

Monday morning, y'all, and not so very good news on the Spears front. As much as we'd like to believe that the tides are turning and older sister Britney is about to change back from a toad into a pop princess, occasionally things happen that prove change does come slow. For example, there doesn't seem to be any current remedy against Britney's erratic driving skills - except, of course, hiring a permanent chauffeur and taking extra driving lessons every day for a year. It was previously reported that Brit Brit loves to drive, and that although her daddy is usually reluctant to allowing his daughter to get behind the wheel, he occasionally gives her permission to drive around her gated community, just for fun. However, given that Britney was involved in yet another fender bender late Saturday night, it looks like papa Spears has good reasons to keep Britney off the streets.

The singer was involved in a minor accident on the eastbound Ventura Freeway just east of the 405 freeway on Saturday. The car she was driving hit the one in front of her which then hit a 2006 Nissan which had stopped, and was then pushed into the car in front. Mercifully, Britney was not alone in the car, but accompanied by one of her bodyguards who was there to take handle the madness once the police and the paparazzi arrived. California Highway Patrol Officers who were on the scene confirmed that no one was injured and no vehicles were damaged. However, the paparazzi dogging Britney claim that the police tested Britney to see if she had been drinking, however when it became clear that it was not the case, the singer was allowed to go on her way without receiving as much as a ticket.

The morale of this little story probably is that miracles don't happen over night, which also means that drivers in the LA area are currently not as safe as they thought they were since Britney is out driving again. On the other hand, given that this minor car pile-up is the worst incident Britney has caused in a while, we're all entitled to believe that she really is getting herself back together. In case any of you forgot, Spears has a long history of causing trouble on motorways, starting with the episode when she was infamously photographed driving with her son Sean Preston on her lap instead of in a baby car seat. At various times in her past, Britney had hit-and-run charges made against her, was accused of driving without a license and eventually banned from driving with her kids in the car altogether.
