Britney Spears is back – but her dance moves are surely a far cry from what she’s shown she can do in previous concerts. Always the consummate performer and entertainer, she seemed to barely make an honest effort to shine during her recent Good Morning America 3-song set.

As we also noted just minutes ago, for her highly-anticipated GMA gig, taped this past Sunday in San Francisco, Britney performed / lip-synched to 3 songs off her latest album, “Femme Fatale,” out now in music stores.

She did “Hold It Against Me,” the lead single off the album, and “Big Fat Bass,” a collaboration with will.i.am that leaked long before the official release, and “Till the World Ends,” which also leaked online some time ago.

While there’s no denying the quality of the tracks or their potential of becoming genuine club anthems (they’re already on the way there, as a matter of fact), Britney’s bit left a lot to be desired, celebrity bloggers and fans are saying on dedicated forums.

It’s not that the show was not spectacular, because it was, they seem to agree. Nevertheless, it wasn’t Britney that was responsible for making it so.

The gig included mobile set-pieces, a lights show and awesome choreography from the backup dancers – but none of this managed to hide the fact that, Britney, in reality, was not actually dancing.

Instead, she hopped from foot to foot, whipped her hair and thrust her pelvis back and forth countless times, perhaps in a bid of making this pass for real dancing.

For a performer known as a skilled dancer as Britney was (and who’s been in the industry for a decade, no less, selling out tours and millions of albums), this GMA performance is, dance-wise, a spot on a rather clean record.

A shame too, fans are saying.

While some argue that there was something “off” about Britney, others point out that she seemed insecure, awkward and, worse of all, quite indifferent of how this turned out.

Or, as Hollywood Life puts it, “Britney Spears is back on top but her dance moves are totally weak!”

Check out the videos below, with Britney Spears performing on Good Morning America, and see whether all those saying her dancing was sub-par are just in their criticism.
