14 DAY TRIAL // Britney Spears and her “regular guy” David Lucado are no longer a couple. The two met through mutual friends at the beginning of 2013 and were officially an item by Valentine’s Day, but they’re not together anymore. He was caught on camera cheating on her.
The Princess of Pop seems to be having almost proverbial bad luck in men, this being the second serious relationship that ends unexpectedly in recent years, after she and fiancé Jason Trawick broke up. Her previous relationships didn’t go that well either, having already been married twice.
The split from Lucado wasn’t an amicable one, from what we can infer from reports online. TMZ notes that he cheated on her with a woman whose identity is yet to be revealed, and perhaps even worse, he got caught on camera whilst doing it.
Video of Lucado “making out with a woman and dancing with her” has been “shopped around Hollywood” for some days now, the celebrity publication says, but before the seller secured a buyer, word of it got back to Britney.
“It looks like they're in someone's living room. We're told the video was shot in early August,” TMZ writes. No word if Britney had any idea about what David was up to during all this time, or whether she found out about it when the video got out.
The bottom line is that she’s not having any of it, so she dumped him. She also confirmed this on her Twitter, with a very to-the-point message that reads only, “Ahhhh, the single life.” She didn’t need to say anything else.
However, David is still hoping that he can somehow get her back because his rep just told TMZ that, “David is very, very in love with Britney. This is unfortunate and he hopes that it all works out.” Read: he was thinking she wouldn’t dump him when she found out about the video. He obviously had no intention of coming clean to her about it before the video emerged.
The same media outlet reports that Britney’s dad Jamie Spears, who has been her conservator for years, wanted to issue a statement on the situation but thought it best to tell his daughter about the video first. After that, he didn’t need to make any statement because Britney dumped him and posted the tweet about being single.
In several interviews Britney gave in late 2013, she admitted that the attraction between her and David had been “instant” and she even used the L-word when speaking about him. “I’m in love. He’s just a simple man. I adore him,” she said in November, adding that she also loved how passionate he was about everything he did, and how loving towards her and her 2 boys with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
