14 DAY TRIAL // She’s tried her hand at acting, creating perfumes, and all kinds of merchandise so, by now, Britney Spears knows pretty well that she’s successful at other things than making pop music and touring to promote it. Her upcoming endeavor will probably be the most interesting, for a variety of reasons.
Britney Spears aka the Princess of Pop has turned lingerie designer. The photo you see above is a screencap from a new website called Intimate Britney Spears, which is actually the name of the collection that will be out in stores in 2 months’ time: September 9 in the US and Canada, and September 26 in Europe.
The website doesn’t offer more details about the line, like how it will look or what items it will include, but Britney is giving fans a glimpse at it on her Instagram page, as you can see below.
She posted a photo of herself in a lace bra and panties combo, with the caption, “Coming very soon... The Intimate Collection, by yours truly. Just a peek at what's to come. Xo.”
She doesn’t say whether she will be modeling the entire collection herself or if we should expect to see more such teasers until release day, but based on this photo alone, we could say that she’s going for very feminine items, elegant but sensual at the same time.
The release of the photo of Britney in the black lingerie has prompted some ridicule online, from pundits saying that no matter the items included in the collection, the Photoshop will be sold separately from them.
If you’re a celebrity gossip lover, you know from paparazzi photos that Britney doesn’t look like this.
It’s a well-known fact that her promo shots are retouched almost beyond any recognition, but in the case of this one, perhaps the “haters” should be focusing on the items Britney designed / helped design instead of how much her body and face have been altered in post-production to make her look this good.
Besides this new project, rumor has it that Britney is also looking at extending her residency in Las Vegas for at least another year because organizers are thrilled at how she manages to fill the venue every night she’s up on stage. This, despite the backlash from critics for lip-synching and putting on a less than lively performance.
If we’re to believe the rumors, she is being offered another $12 million (€8.9 million) for another year on the current 2-year contract.
With all the criticism Britney is getting every day for whatever and the many people saying that she’s nothing but a talentless, manufactured pop star, the front of a huge marketing machine, she continues to be making money hand over fist. At the end of the day, she’s the one laughing all the way to the bank.
