Britney Not Screwed Because Someone's a Pussy!'OK!' magazine takes the easy way out. The interview of the century is a fake! |

For two weeks or so, we've been hearing nothing but rumors about Britney Spears' imminent meltdown and a revelation that was about to change our image of the former Princess of Pop for eternity. In the end, it all boiled down to absolutely nothing. No, actually, strike that: it all came down to a bag of lies, more or less. Because, you see, the long-expected issue of 'OK!' Magazine (the one that was supposed to make that revelation about Brit Brit) is already out there, on the Internet, and it's basically a far cry from what we were told to expect.
Yesterday, the Editor-in-Chief for the magazine released a statement, in which we were assured that we would get to read and see the truth and nothing but the truth about the day spent with the pop tart on the set of her latest video: '"OK!" Magazine spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad. This week, on newsstands Friday, the truth will be told.' There were hints about incriminating photos, erratic behavior, crazy diva attitude and everything else that you could possibly thing of.
Don't get me wrong, it's not as if people were really expecting this issue just to have something really dramatic to read about. What they did expect, instead, was the truth and a deeper look into the life of a singer whom we all used to love and appreciate for what she did. Maybe even some insight into how bad things really stand. Confirmation that there was no need to hope. Or on the contrary - something to grab on, to show us that she really had it in her to move along, pick up the pieces of her career and then glue them back together and make a sizzling comeback.
What we got in return for our high hopes were photos taken by the paparazzi (instead of the one taken on location - apparently for legal reasons) and an article that says nothing new because, basically, the 'interview of the century' (as it was pimped in the media) did not take place at all. From the very beginning (which looks something like this: 'With music flowing, Britney being beautified and the sun spreading its warmth throughout the light-filled property, it appeared that everything was now on course'), we know what to expect: a sanitized account of the meeting, with nothing new to reveal.
The interview goes on to excruciatingly detail how Britney's pooch pooped on one of the dresses the magazine gave her for the photo shoot and that she cleaned her greasy hands by using another. Oh, and that she stormed out of the room even before starting to properly do the 'tell-all', taking with her shoes and dresses and jewelry that were all meant to be used for the shoot. And this is the big reveal that we were all waiting for?!
The Britney cover ends with an open letter to the pop tart, in which she is kindly invited back to tell her part of the story: 'At "OK!" we'd love to gave our old Britney back. But what we experienced was a young girl who is desperately in need of help. And sadly, she has surrounded herself with too many people who are pretending that nothing is wrong. That is why, after much debate, we are telling this story. Britney, when you're really ready to talk, we're listening'. Yes, that was a very 'courageous' thing to say for the magazine!
