No one minded when Jimmy Kimmel opened this year's edition of the American Music Awards with a skit trashing Kevin Federline. It featured a lookalike of the rapper, whom Kimmel called the world's 'first no-hit wonder', that was tied and gagged and then put into a 'soundproof' box and thrown into the ocean. It was supposed to be funny... but that's not how K-Fed's future ex-wife saw it.
A few minutes after the skit, Kimmel introduced Britney Spears as a special guest, to hand out an award. The host of the evening saw nothing wrong with the joke (after all, Federline is the laughing stock of the entire world!) and he counted on Brit and Kevin's sense of humor to pull it through.
Spears' publicist told TMZ that the pop star didn't know about the skit and that seeing the father of her child ridiculed like that on national television was not at all 'funny' to her. Apparently, she even refused to go on stage but she did it only because one of the producers strongly urged her to. Media outlets state that she left the stage 'in tears' and then locked herself in her trailer, refusing to speak to anyone.
Later, 'Spears had words with someone from the show, then said she didn't want her seats and that no photo or image of her was to be used for any promotion or connection with the show - and then she left', 'Life & Style Weekly' writes. Kimmel apologized for the entire skit, but insisted that he thought Britney and Federline wouldn't mind it: 'I knew they wouldn't mind because I know they both have a great sense of humor'.
