Britney Gives Her Kids Nightmares, Had Abortion at 20

If you ever found yourself wondering whether there were more shocking details about Britney Spears' life out there, carefully hidden from the eyes of the media, wonder no more: both Britney's past and present seem to be a never-ending casket of... well, not wonders... more like strange surprises. And every time new details emerge about the popwreck's past and present antics, we all find ourselves marveling at the amount of drama going on – and wondering what else is there to learn. Not that the sheer amount of information we have gathered so far on the fallen pop princess wasn't comprehensive enough to write about half a dozen books – but as I was saying, the surprises never seem to end.

We have two fresh Britney stories today, one courtesy of Page6, the other via the National Enquirer. Page6 reports that although an encouraging step forward, Britney's reunion with her kids is not the perfect walk in the park it was pictured to be. Predictably, Britney's boys are having some trouble adjusting to having their mother back in their lives on a pretty much regular basis, to the point where Sean Preston is said to have cried for his father during his first contact with Britney since her highly publicized meltdown on January 3rd. The toddler is also reportedly having nightmares. "Jamie told Kevin that Britney handled the visit well. She actually did cry, but that was only because Sean cried when she took them from Kevin", an insider recounts.

According to the same source, Britney loves her kids but has absolutely no idea how to soothe them and give them the safety and comfort they need. "She dresses them for show and tell. She likes to show them off, but not give them the nurturing they need. I understand she is working on this part of her motherhood with her psychiatrist", says the insider. Britney's boys, however, are said to be playing a "pivotal role in her progress" and "Brit has expressed interest in becoming closer to the boys. Kevin hopes she is talking from her heart", another source adds. And while all that may sound very nice, I also find it heartbreaking and sad. Enter the National Enquirer, with a rumor that could explain some of Britney's conflicting attitudes when it comes to parenting: according to them, the pop singer got pregnant at the age of 20 and was forced to have an abortion.

If this is true, it would mean first of all that both Spears sisters managed to get pregnant at an early age – which again points to the fact that contraceptives have never been big on the list of family priorities. It is claimed that Britney's secret pregnancy came in 2002, when the singer had just broken up with Justin Timberlake. They never mention if the baby could possibly have been his, but make it sound like Britney was so upset after the break-up that she slept around and eventually couldn't even tell who the father of the baby was. So on her mother's advice, she had an abortion which the Enquirer claimed she then deeply regretted, and which was – they say – the first of the many false steps that would lead her to her current mentally fragile condition.
