In case you were wondering about the Britney news of the day, they're here, don't worry - one of the marks of a true trainwreck is that once it managed to get going, it will never slow down unless it slams into a tree or something. If only. Kidding - the fact is, Britney is keeping those headlines going. And when it comes to Britney, there's another thing that has to be taken into account - everybody's got an opinion about it.
All of a sudden, it appears, celebrities left, right and center claim that if they had been in charge of Britney, they would have been able to prevent her from sucking that badly. Well, I am sorry to say this (not) but what Britney would have needed on Sunday evening was a dose of sedatives to put her to sleep and prevent her from going on stage. Everything else is just fuzz - plus, I have to point out that the Britney disaster has the unique ability to make everybody else feel like their lives are just perfect. When compared to the mess she is, even I feel like a star. Joke.
Among the first to comment was Simon Cowel, the British music mogul who proclaimed that her performance at the VMAs ended Spears' career. How else can we say this? D'oh! Is he in such a bad shape he's started to state the obvious? We all saw it, we were all horrified (well, maybe not like that desperately crying loony who posted his tearful defense of Brit Brit online) and we all realized this time it was over for good. But this is what Cowel has to say and (surprise!) he's sure he could have prevented the disaster.
"If I had been looking after Britney I'd have taken one look at her in rehearsals and I wouldn't have allowed her on the stage. The song wasn't right, the image wasn't right and she just wasn't rehearsed. If she'd turned up and given that performance on 'The X factor' auditions I wouldn't have put her through to the next round. The problem she has now is that she could have killed her career. It's difficult to come back fron that operformance for a while at least".
Well, it may come as a surprise for Mr. Cowell, but the whole world of music doesn't always operate by the rules of 'The X Factor'. The fact is, Britney got on stage and made a fool of herself - and nothing can be done about that. And while I'm sure it's natural for our terrified brains to be looking for an explanation and to imagine the trainwreck can be stopped, that's just an illusion - and I for once am looking forward to seeing what she'll hit next.
