Yes, here it is again - the story of the mysterious witness that is to step up and testify in the custody case between Brit Brit and K-Fed and who is, according to notorious lawyer Gloria Allred, the magician who has been threatening to pull this rabbit out of her hat. Rumors about the identity of the witness - a man - have been flying for more than a week. But Allred warns - "He is not famous. He's just someone who's concerned about the kids" she stated for famous celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

Does this rule out the possibility of the mystery witness being a drug dealer of some sort? No, I'm serious - very many people actually asked themselves the very same question, seeing how Allred has hinted that this person, whoever he is, has been in a position to observe the Britster and her behavior around her kids, which is in the end what all this mess is about. And again it was hinted that it's all about Britney not keeping her (alleged) substance abuse away from her boys. Which, if proven true, could mean she can say goodbye to them very soon.

Now, it may all seem a little cloak and dagger at first, but I somehow have a feeling this will turn out to be dead serious. Allred has been involved in famous cases in which celebrities were also involved - and she knows very well the value of a publicity stunt. However, she has stated repeatedly that the credibility of the "secret witness" is solid, and she doesn't seem the type to go public with such sensitive information without knowing there's something serious to it first.

So, any guesses? We will learn soon enough what happened - but it's a fact: Britney losing custody of her boys has never looked so serious. And of course, her erratic behavior before and after her disastrous performance at the VMAs (that includes going on stage drunk and drugged out and being photographed wearing no underwear) will not help create the image of a responsible mother.

However, I think that losing her kids right now would prove much more of a shock than she could handle. Not to mention that K-Fed, despite lying low over the past months, is not exactly father of the year himself. I really don't envy the judge that will have to rule in this case.
