Britney Bends it in the Gym

- The singer most of us regarded as all but departed from the shobiz big league proves she can still bend it

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

Britney Spears working out - when is the last time any one of us saw that? The answer to this (slightly rhetorical) question would be along the lines of "years and years". Of course, such a grim vision is slightly exaggerated, but
not as much as we would be tempted to imagine. In actuality, Britney's loss of her fit, previously-praised figure didn't occur after she gave birth to her second son, but later on - and it all became painfully visible when the troubled singer gave her infamous MTV VMA performance that signaled to the world at large the official end of the Britney era. However, the popwreck is currently doing her best to stage a spectacular comeback - well, for about the second or third time in less than a year, but who's really counting? - and in view of that, made a smashing return to the gym.

In fact, things seem to be a lot better than we might initially imagine, to the point where gossip TMZ is reporting that Britney's camp started negotiations to turn the singer into the front woman for a gym called Bally Total Fitness. "Brit has been going to the club at least once a day and up to as many as three times a day. She’s training with two of the company’s top personal trainers [...]. She’s also working with the company’s nutritionist, who has put Britney on five to six quality meals a day," TMZ claims. Which, of course, means that Mexican food and calorific Starbucks frappuccinos are out of the question. Truth be told, Britney has indeed been looking increasingly healthier since a few weeks, and with her old manager Larry Rudolph back in the game, it looks like he is already trying to capitalize on her newfound fitness enthusiasm.

However, it's still incredibly strange to see Britney Spears out and about going to fitness workouts, smiling and actually doing a good job of not looking completely insane. On the other hand, the whole world is basically begging for a Britney comeback, because - strange as it may sound - the popwreck still benefits form an impressive amount of public sympathy. It's hard to imagine that, after two stints in rehab, a mental breakdown, two visits to the psych ward and an incredible amount of bad press, people are still interested in the tiniest details of the singer's life, but trust is a capital Britney's fans seem not to have exhausted completely. It remains to be seen whether Britney will know how to take advantage of the millionth shot she has been given. Stay tuned for more updates.
