Britney's Lil' Sis Giving Up Her Unborn Baby?

It must be the Spears genes coming out in her

I have no idea what's wrong with the women in the Spears household, but I suspect there might have been something in the water or the air as they were growing up, because both Britney and her 16 year-old pregnant sister sure seem strangely willing to give up their babies. In more ways than one. There's no need to go into all the sordid details about Britney's past and present exploits and efforts to lose... I mean, fight for visitation rights and child custody, because we all know how that ended. But I really think there's either an environmental or genetic factor at work here, since her little pregnant sister Jamie Lynn is apparently thinking of doing pretty much the same thing - and give up her baby to her mother.

Question is, should Lynne Spears be allowed to raise another baby? We all know what happened with the first two daughters she raised, what if the poor baby is a girl and grows up to be the next Britney? My stomach feels slightly weird at that thought alone... And yes, I can imagine Jamie Lynn doing just that - giving her baby to her mom and returning to her teenage life of hanging out at the mall and having crushes on spotty tweens. Can you imagine that, though? "Hi, Jamie Lynn, what have you been up to this weekend?" "Oh, hi, well... you know, the usual, I had a baby, gave it up, nothing much, really". Yeah, that will definitely be a conversation to remember. The people at Star magazine are apparently convinced this is how thing will go down, and they do a good job of keeping us up to date with the news.

"After several weeks of personal soul searching and talks and discussions with her mum Jamie Lynn reluctantly agreed that giving up the baby is the right thing to do. Lynne says Jamie doesn't understand the life long consequences of having a baby. She still wants her daughter to be able to be a teenager, go to parties, hang out with friends and have a career. So she'll take the front seat of caring for the baby and take the pressure off her daughter" reports a source quoted by Star. "Lynne is convinced that having a baby on her hip will not help Jamie Lynn's future in the business and she's expecting her daughter to pick up where she left off as soon as the baby is born" the insider adds. Um, clue to the ladies in the Spears household: I pretty much doubt Jamie Lynn will ever have an honest (second) chance to a proper career - and that pretty much says it all. But who knows? This is the Spears family, y'all - anything is possible.
