Since all British Telecom broadband customers get free and unlimited access to the company's Wi-Fi networks across the United Kingdom, an app to let them know where to find these hotspots would clearly come in hand.

That's the purpose of the new BT Wi-Fi app released to Windows 8.1 users, as it comes with options to connect automatically to hotspots and remember usernames and passwords for faster connections.

“Download the new BT Wi-fi app to get an automatic connection to all 5 million BT Wi-fi hotspots in the UK. Just login and connect to BT Wi-fi once your wi-fi settings to automatically connect to the UK’s largest wi-fi network whenever you're in range,” the app description reads.

British Telecom has made the app compatible with both desktop computers and tablets, so you can download BT Wi-Fi for Windows 8.1 even if you're planning to browse the Internet using a Surface RT tablet.
