No joke, they just barged in going for the machine with the guy inside

I can't believe what I have just stumbled on. Hear this: A British teenager was shot in his house three times by robbers bursting in going for his gaming console, an Xbox 360. Britain? If the title said "American teenager shot in his home...," everyone would go: "not again...!" but Britain? Every news site is saying the same. OK, now that we've settled on the fact that no one thought anything like this was possible in Europe, let's just look at the facts a little.

Currently a used Xbox 360 is what... 400 bucks tops? Maybe in the best condition ever and even that's a long shot. Who is that stupid to break into someone's house, knowing that the person is inside and try to steal $400 worth of equipment? Sure, the 360 is a great console and all, but 2 sidekicks, a knife and a gun is just too much for a lousy Xbox 360 if you ask me. What are they some kind of special-Xbox-360-stealing-unit or something?

Surely there are some details missing from the story. Or who knows, maybe there really are people stupid enough to barge into someone's house and tell them: "Sit still, don't worry, we're here for the console. We'll be out in no time so don't make any sudden moves because we'll kill you." I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my joke but I can't believe how an innocent person can get shot in their own home like this, and for what.

The Sun posts a police spokesman's statement saying that "It's fortunate the young man who was shot didn't die." Another source added: "You're talking somebody being robbed and shot in their home for a games console. It's the sort of thing you'd expect in America, not here. The violence used was extreme." See what I meant?
