Quite an embarrassing story

If one British institution is in an embarrassing situation, it's the Police. Recently, they tracked down a stolen truck which was used by thieves to transport the stuff they robbed from a few local stores. Nothing really important, only seven pallets of games, most of them being Ubisoft's latest PlayStation 3 title, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. 16,000 of copies of the game were found in the truck, seized after the Police noticed the fake license plate on the vehicle.

As the normal procedure would dictate, the truck was impounded by the local police until all the investigations were complete. But things went a bit wrong after the truck was delivered to the police yard. It was stolen by another gang of thieves. That's right, you read correctly, thieves broke into the police depot from Northampton and stole all the game copies, which are valued at around 600,000 British pounds.

A police spokesperson has come forward with a declaration from the institution regarding the quite embarrassing theft, “We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, including eBay transactions where a number of the games have been potentially identified as being advertised for sale. Arrests have already been made in respect of this”.

It sounds like they are pulling out all the stops to catch these robbers and clear the name of the police. Although the story is really amusing, let's not forget that this time there were games involved, but there could have been other objects, like guns or drugs.

In regards to the stolen game copies, the local branch of Ubisoft declared that more units would be shipped in to cover the big loss in the current stock.
