A British man has decided to surprise his girlfriend with a special, high-adrenaline, romantic proposal, and he certainly managed to impress her as the woman's answer was “Yes.”

Earlier this month, Luke Harding, from Pembrokeshire, Wales, proposed to his girlfriend Rachel Hughes while they were on a skydiving experience in Perth, Australia.

The couple experienced an unforgettable 1,500 ft (457 m) Tandem Skydive over some of the most beautiful bays in Western Australia before landing onto the pristine beaches of Geographe Bay. After a spectacular parachute jump, Rachel was greeted on the beach by her boyfriend down on one knee, while a banner nearby asked the big question.

“Going down on one knee in a restaurant just isn't me as I'm sure most people knowing me would agree. So it had to be something that fitted my personality,” Luke said, as reported by Daily Mail.

The emotional moment has been planned in advance by the adventurous lover, and it had all the necessary elements to be just perfect: a blue sapphire Vera Wang engagement ring, a bouquet of red roses, a huge sign and a superb location.

“I’d planned the proposal for about two to three months and I spent about a month picking the ring. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind and I never anticipated the sort of reaction I’ve had,” the 26-year-old man added.

The girl's tandem dive instructor gave Luke a head start of a few moments so that he landed first and got ready to pop the question. By the moment Rachel touched down everything was in place for the romantic proposal. The man said his girlfriend didn't have a clue about his plans, so the proposal really was a big surprise for her.

“I had absolutely no idea he was planning this. As we swooped round in the air to line up for our landing I could see the banner and when it clicked I couldn't believe it,” Rachel said.

To celebrate the special event, Luke also arranged for some of their friends to meet them after the proposal for a surprise engagement party at a location near the beach.

Southern Skydivers, the outdoor adventures firm that facilitated the skydive, captured the romantic proposal on video. You can watch it too by hitting the play button on the video below.

The couple have been together for three and a half years and they will tie the knot in August 2015. They have been in Australia on a working holiday since October 2013.
