A British man has become a successful catwalk model, although as a teenager he was bullied by his classmates for his bright ginger hair.

His red hair and acne caused a lot of problems to Louis Evans, who was nicknamed “Rusty” and was frequently picked on because of his looks. However, the man managed to beat the bullies by creating a successful modeling career.

Louis, who grew up in the small town of Lowestoft, UK, had a difficult adolescence. It was very hard for him to find a girlfriend, mainly due to his red hair and severe acne. After finishing school, he got a job as a cold caller for an office-supplies company, so modeling was not in his books.

“It was quite difficult growing up in a small town. Back at home there were stereotypes about gingers and I had the wrong kind of attention,” Louis said, according to Daily Mail.

However, he tried to overcome all misconceptions and difficulties and didn't let people's opinions affect his confidence.

At the age of 20, Louis was looking like a high-cheekboned model and he was signed by a leading agency to take part in Milan Fashion Week. Louis' mother, Jo McCall – a former beauty queen herself, encouraged him to follow this path, so he moved to London and began to pursue a career as a model.

Since then, he appeared on the catwalks at London Fashion Week, on the pages of British Vogue and will soon take part in Milan Fashion Week.

His mother says she is very proud of what he has achieved so far.

“I am just very happy that he is having all of these amazing experiences. He is really working hard to achieve his goals and I am very proud of that.”

Although having such peculiar hair wasn't always an advantage, as back at home he was targeted for the way he looked, it is his ginger hair that has made him so popular in Europe.

“In places like Milan, Spain and Greece they adore redheads and put them on a pedestal,” he said.

Louis has also been involved in the Red Hot campaign that celebrates models with red hair. Moreover, he appeared on the BBC'S The One Show, in an effort to break the negative stereotype.

Since moving to London, his lifestyle changed completely. He is now attending exclusive nightclubs and parties, and he has even spent time with the Saudi Royal family.
